INTRODUCTION :- High Voltage Insulation Mat has superseded the Rubber mats to new revised specifications IS:15652:2006 (Indian Standard). High Voltage Insulation Mat has high Insulation resistance of 10,00,000 MΩ when measured with 500V Meggar. Due to its high insulation resistance insulation mat provides full protection to the staff working on and around the Electrical Equipment. High Voltage Insulation Mat does not absorb moisture, it is fire retardant and there is no effect of the chemicals such as Acids, Alkalis & transformer oil. 1. Rubber mats are produced under the IS 5424:1969 standards  which is the outdated standard of BIS. 2. Rubber mats can easily be damage by heavy equipment and machinery. 3. Rubber mats are not good choice of flooring when it comes to protection against leakage current and shocks. 4. Rubber mats are very costly compared to PVC insulation mats .                                                5. Rubber mats have a short lifetime and they needs more care while using under heavy equipments. 6. Rubber mats require special cleaners for cleaning whereas PVC mats can be cleaned with water. 7. PVC matting solutions are easy to install whereas for installing rubber mats you will require specialized fixing team at high cost. 8. Rubber mats are less versatile as they become slippery and are dangerous when wet. 9. Rubber mats are inflammable and catch fire easily.
